BetterQOL has designed the multiple sclerosis module but is raising funds to begin programming.
Physicians benefit from BetterQOL in a number of ways. All physicians seek to maximize their patient's QOL but currently have no way to easily measure or track this important metric. Also, because the physician's time is limited, screening for comorbid diseases usually does not happen. There is no tool currently available for physicians in clinical practice that correlates outputs from any disease metric with treatment changes. Correlating this data manually, whether using an electronic medical record system or paper charts, would be excessively time consuming. Our tool improves the physician's efficiency and allows him to optimize his patients treatment plans.
As physicians are faced with pay for performance measures, our system will be able to provide a potential number of metrics that could relate to the treatment and care of multiple sclerosis.
These could include:
- Tracking of quality of life in patients with chronic disease.
- Percent of eligible patients on disease modifying drugs.
- Documentation of effect of disease modifying drugs on patient quality of life.
- Tracking of relapse attacks per patient.
- Percent of patients screened for depression.
- Documentation of response to treatment for depression therapy.
